In last week’s post, I discussed gap analysis and its method. A gap analysis, also known as a needs analysis, is a strategic tool that helps organizations bridge the divide between the current situation (known as the "as-is" state) and where the organization needs to be (known as the "to-be" state). By conducting a gap analysis between the current and future states, you identify what's missing (the gap) to reach the future state. The tool helps you avoid taking action before clarifying your current position and desired destination.
